An Award for Magicana
On May 4, 2019, Magicana received the 2018 Literary and Media Fellowship from the Academy of Magical Arts at the legendary Magic Castle in Hollywood. What a true honour it is to be recognized by the Academy with this prestigious award, and to join the impressive list of past honourees. This award not only validates our efforts, but it also represents the acknowledgement of our peers of our work and our contributions. And most importantly, it is recognition that what we are doing is making a difference in raising the profile of magic—an art we love so much.
All of us at Magicana are humbled and grateful to the Academy of Magical Arts for this honour. Being named this year’s fellowship recipient is a lasting privilege, an accomplishment that we will always treasure.

Sharing Wonder
The video above highlights some of the many things we do to share wonder. For over eighteen years, Magicana has been building a body of work that forwards and advances the art of magic. We reach directly into the community with our local outreach programs for both children and senior populations. We produce theatrical shows and presentations that raise the public’s awareness and appreciation of magic as an art. We stage a variety of conferences, seminars and workshops on magic and its history. We publish books and journals on magic. We curate and host online exhibitions about great magicians, their history and their contributions to the art, and we host and maintain an enormous archive of magic videos.
We are also the administrative body for the Allan Slaight Awards, which celebrates exceptional achievements in magic by individuals and organizations across the globe. None of this would be possible without the unending support of the Slaight family and, especially, Allan Slaight and his son Gary Slaight. Both have been great champions of Magicana and we are so grateful for their confidence in our efforts in sharing wonder.
