Desert Bus for Hope is a charity fundraiser that raises money for Child’s Play Charity in Seattle. Child’s Play provides toys and games for children’s hospitals and domestic violence shelters all over the world.
What is it? Desert Bus is a mini-game from the never-released Sega CD game Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors. Challenging the player to drive a listing, unreliable, virtual bus on an endless, eight-hour-long strip of highway between Tucson, Arizona, and Las Vegas, Nevada, it is widely regarded to be the worst video game ever made.
So, how do they raise money? They play it for as long as donations come in. In order to keep things interesting for viewers, they hold live and silent auctions, giveaways and contests, celebrity guests, and a lot of silliness.
This year's run started on November 13th and is still in progress! Penn and Teller have been great supporters since its inception fourteen years ago. This year, they have offered a copy of The Magic of Johnny Thompson—signed by Johnny Thompson, Penn, and Teller—to be auctioned on Thursday November 19th at 3PM PST. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Child’s Play.
These coveted books are sold out so here is your chance to buy a brand new and specially autographed copy of the book, while supporting children! Visit Desert Bus for Hope to learn more.
